It all got started at a young age from the obsessions of striper fishing on the coast of the pacific to the bays and deltas of San Francisco and to the reservoir of San Luis.
I grew up fishing with my dad in the early 80’s where he would bring me along just as a companion to those lonely drives from the city. He would set me up for throwing plastic pencil poppers while he would soak baits from a little further distance and I would be amazed when I catch a fish using a plastic lure of which he never used. Back in the day, my dad could not believe that I would actually catch a fish on a lure.
Then a few years passed and the internet was born. I came across a few websites with fishing forums and joined in and come to find out about all the information that had been written and the chats that were forming on a daily basis. It became an obsession to participate in the plug building forums and that is also how the eurojett name started. Where did I get the name “eurojett” you might ask? Well, to make it short, I purchased a new ride back in 2005 and it was a Volkswagen Jetta GLI. So, I named myself “eurojett” for the World Wide Web in the fishing forums and it got stuck with me till this day.
Learning about wooden plugs through the internet was so overwhelming and so rich in history, especially in the east coast where it all made its debut in the early days of surfcasting. The obsession of plug building, for me, started when I connected with our West Coast legendary plug builder and fisherman, Mike Fixter. I learned a few techniques of his own and developed more through many other great plug builders from the east coast and so it became a more serious hobby. An expensive hobby that many were trying to warn me about, but I did not listen as I kept going and going and going like that Energizer bunny :-)
